Lyndsey King’s passion for gymnastics began at a young age. Originally from Sterling, CO, she competed competitively from childhood through high school under the instruction of Rick Kaiser. During her high school career, she had the honor to contribute to the team’s back-to-back-to-back State Championship titles. It was during that time that she also joined the high school cheerleading squad. Although gymnastics was her first love, Lyndsey went on to cheer at Colorado State University, while pursuing an accounting degree. Since returning to Eastern Colorado, she has enjoyed teaching tumbling classes, private lessons and Arickaree/Woodlin’s Spirit Soldiers.
Maria Barmpadimou is the Artistic Director of Dance Fuzion Zurich. Maria has come to us from Greece and has studied in Athens and London at Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing and RAD. Her passion for dance led to her training and teaching in ballet, modern, hip hop and jazz. Maria has experience in teaching diverse age groups: from preschool activities to ballet and other genres of dance in various Greek ballet schools. In June 2014, Maria so graciously accepted the director's position when Angela Jacobs moved back to the United States.

Where It All Began
"I set out with the hope to change the world one tiny dancer at a time, but in fact it is me who has been changed."
"Growing up in a small, rural community in Colorado there were not many dance options. At the time we had one stop light, a couple of gas stations, a few restaurants and one dance studio. I would love to say that I began dance classes because I loved to move...I did...into walls and doors and whatever else my two left feet threw me into. At the age of three, my parents put me into dance class because I was clumsy. I remember my first ballet class. I did not like it, but I fell in love with tap and jazz. I loved the movement, the noise, the costumes, the excitement of being on stage and my teachers. I will never forget one particular dance teacher. She encouraged me, helped me and made class fun. She impacted my life. She saw something in me and chose to believe in me.
I learned from a very young age the value and importance of encouragement and belief in someone. I was fortunate to have parents who were supportive and also believed in me. To be taught that my life has a purpose was the greatest gift my parents ever gave me. This idea became my driving force.
I loved dance, teaching dance and the love grew from the hope of being able to impact someone's life for the greater good. For that reason,in 2001, I started By Design in Yuma County Colorado. At that time, I focused mainly on Cheer and Dance Camps. In spite of all my weaknesses and failings, being able to encourage someone's potential in dance and in life made teaching even more special to me.
Since weekly classes began in 2004 in Yuma County, things have changed quite a bit. My students in Yuma ,Wray, Holyoke and Calhan Colorado, in Western North Carolina and in Zürich, Switzerland have not only helped shape me as an instructor, but as person. From classes, pizza parties, camps, workshops, performances and recitals, these kids help my dreams and goals come true. I think when you start something with the hope to "change" anything, at some point you realize this does not happen alone and without change inside of yourself. Without faith, support, hard work, trial and error and my wonderful students, I can not be who I am created to be. I am forever grateful to the parents of Dance Fuzion and to my students for giving me the opportunity to be in their life and more importantly for them being in mine."
